Pernell Jones is the newest addition to the PPH Fellowship Program. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Health Science & Biology from California State University, Dominguez Hills and recently completed his Master of Health Administration Degree from USC's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. His academic background includes studying abroad, where Mr. Jones explored biomedical research and HIV/AIDS prevention strategies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Pernell started his healthcare management career at HealthCare Partners Medical Group & IPA, working as an administrative intern in finance, marketing, and human resources. He was also an operations and finance intern at Providence- Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, CA. While at USC, Pernell was elected president of the Student Health Council, a student organization whose mission is to provide graduate and undergraduate students with professional, academic, and social skills that are critical for the success in the healthcare industry. He was also a senior editor and founding member of the first ever student-run academic journal in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development. He continues to foster his professional growth by being active in local ACHE and HFMA chapters. Outside of work, Pernell enjoys photography and Photoshop, traveling, concerts, and sports.
2009-2010
Anna Ha currently serves as the Program Manager for Integrative Medicine & Wellness at PPH. She holds a master's degree in Health Administration from the University of Missouri, School of Medicine and a B.S. in Health Information Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Anna has worked in a variety of health care settings that has provided her with a broad and diverse understanding of the health industry. She completed an administrative internship at the American Hospital Association's Health Research and Educational Trust, where she worked on projects that helped translate and bridge health care research into policy and practice. Anna's previous work experience includes the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Health Capital Consultants. During graduate school, she served as the Philanthropy and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Chair for her graduate student association. Anna was also involved in rebuilding the first health interdisciplinary organization on campus focused on quality health care and volunteered as a researcher for Columbia Unversity's OursMedicina project, a new 501c3 committed to providing free, credible, non-commercial and equitable health-care information on the internet. Additionally, she has served on the Missouri Regents Advisory Council for ACHE and looks forward to bringing the same energy and enthusiasm to the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL), the local ACHE chapter. In her spare time, Anna plans to remain active in philanthropy by participating in community service activities, such as PPH's Project 21SD.

Joanna Sainmervil, a south Florida native, received her B.A. in Economics with a minor in Mass Communications from the University of Florida. In 2008, she graduated with her Masters of Health Administration degree from the same university. Currently, Joanna is working towards her Certification in Procedural Coding (CPC) to further develop her administration skill set. During her graduate studies, Joanna held several leadership roles. These included Relay for Life Activities and Entertainment Co-Chair, Patient Advocacy Liaison for Shands Healthcare at the University of Florida and founder of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) University of Florida Student Network Program. As a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), she looks forward to furthering her professional association involvement and volunteer opportunities with the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL), the local ACHE Chapter. Currently, Joanna is a Billing Analyst for UCSD Medical Center.
2007-2008
Natalie Bennett currently serves as Manager in the Program Development Department, where one of her primary responsibilities is to manage business growth and physician relations for Orthopedics and General Surgery. The other aspect of her role includes system implementation of a process improvement/problem solving approach that directly engages front line leadership to more effectively solve and respond to day-to-day problems. This approach, modified from the Toyota Production System, is fairly new to health care and is offering Natalie great experience managing a system-wide project that is developing the skills of front line leadership to deal with challenges they will face moving into the new hospital. She maintains a membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and serves as Board Chair for the local ACHE Chapter, the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL).
Prior to starting her fellowship at PPH, Natalie received a B.S. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Management from Purdue University. She continued on to graduate school at The Ohio State University where she graduated with her MHA in June 2007. While in graduate school, Natalie served as an integral member of the Strategic Planning team at The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC), one of the leading academic medical centers in the United States. She has also had an opportunity to work for the Sinai Health System (Chicago, IL), Medical University of Ohio, and Home Hospital.
2006-2007
Kwaja Floyd received her B.S. in Health Information Management from Florida A&M University and subsequently worked as a technical analyst for several healthcare software development organizations for several years. In May 2006, Kwaja received her Masters in Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Kwaja then completed her administration fellowship with PPH and subsequently accepted a position as IS Analyst for Security and Compliance and then Project Coordinator for Clinical Outreach Services, involving her in many aspects of outpatient and skilled nursing facility development. Kwaja continued to be an active participant with the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) and previously served on the Board for the local ACHE Chapter, the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL).
2005-2006
Stonish Pierce, FACHE currently serves as Manager, Clinical Outreach Services whereby he is responsible for day-to-day operations ofPPH expresscare, the first retail health centers branded by a health system in southern California and the first retail health centers developed under a hospital license in California. His daily responsibilities include clinic operations, financial management, marketing, public relations, human resource management, information services integration, service excellence, physician relations, billing and claims management. At the system level, Stonish is further involved with the centralization of Clinical Support Services, strategic planning, retail and business development of other selected services and programs. and continues to serve as a Baldrige Internal Examiner. Before transitioning to PPH as an Administrative Fellow, Stonish broadened his understanding of the healthcare industry by working in various administrative and clinical roles at the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center, the largest integrated healthcare organization in the VA system; Torrance Memorial Medical Center, a Thomson Reuters Top 100 hospital; Paulseth & Associates Physical Therapy, Inc; and Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center.
Stonish remains active outside of his professional role by serving as the immediate past-President for the San Diego-American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Chapter, the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL) and the ACHE Regent’s Advisory Council for San Diego & Imperial Counties. In addition to ACHE, Stonish maintains professional memberships with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Stonish received the ACHE Regent's Early Career Healthcare Executive Award for San Diego/Imperial Counties in 2009, the SOHL Outstanding Board Member Award in 2009 and was recognized by ACHE in 2008 as an Emerging Leader in the healthcare industry. Stonish is board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow of ACHE (FACHE). Stonish earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and his Master of Health Administration degree with a graduate certificate in ambulatory care management, all from the University of Southern California.
